What a week!
I think this is the first time my comic journal has had a recurring theme across several days. Unfortunately, that theme was coughing. Then again, it's pretty easy to make everything about being sick when you're sick.
What's strange is that, despite barely leaving the house all week, looking back at these comics makes it feel like quite a lot happened. And I guess it did? Funny how that works.
Anyway, I'm finally feeling better, and here are this week's comics. I'll give myself a little pat on the back for keeping this daily thing going even while my body was actively working against me.
Monday

A week after getting their vaccines, the cats got their yearly deworming pills. Millimeter, smart as she is, somehow managed to eat around the pill hidden in her treat. I didn't think she was capable of that, since she's normally eager to devour absolutely anything and everything.
I had to bring out the big guns and hide the pill in some liver sausage. They love that stuff so much that they don't care what else is inside.
Tuesday

This is what we, in the business of explaining comics, call foreshadowing. It's when you subtly hint at something that will become relevant later. For example, I might be getting sick. Will I? Who could possibly know? Stay tuned.
Wednesday

It might surprise you, but it turns out that a bit of lemon juice and honey wasn't enough to stop the inevitable.
I hate knowing that I'm getting sick and not being able to do anything about it. I don't like being sick. Crazy, I know. But it's just so overwhelming and boring at the same time. Everything itches, stuff keeps coming out of my nose, and coughing is just plain annoying. I'm very pathetic when I'm sick.
And knowing what's coming ruins the three days leading up to it, too. I feel like I need to hunker down and prepare for a storm that hasn't arrived yet.
Thursday

It took a couple of rejections, but the new version of Zeitgeist I finished the other day was finally approved, and I managed to release it on the App Store just in time for the iPhone Duo's launch. People loved it! Which is great, because I do, too.
It's the best journaling app I know of, and also the one with the strongest opinions about what journaling should be. If you've been thinking about finally getting into journaling, you might want to give it a try.
Friday

I know it's not rational to be in a bad mood because you don't get to play around with an incredibly expensive new Apple gadget on release day. But it's one of the few true luxuries I allow myself. I love technology, I love well-made things, and I love wrapping my head around interesting interface design problems. The iPhone Duo combines all three.
You should have seen how quickly I got to the Apple Store after that call. I was still sick, and I suspect rushing across the city to buy an iPhone before anyone else could made the next couple of days worse, health-wise. But I don't regret a thing!
If you'd like to know more about how I feel about all of this, I've written a whole post about it.
Saturday

If you've been following this comic journal closely, you'll know that Boldu was one of the best things I discovered on my first trip to Barcelona. So you can imagine how grateful I was when Pablo brought me not one, but two of them. What a treat!
Sunday

If only the cough would go away. I remember going to a doctor once because I'd been sick weeks earlier and the cough just wouldn't leave. They basically told me it could take up to three weeks to clear up on its own, and the only thing I could do was wait. How frustrating. What's all that about? That's an absurd amount of time.
I want to take a couple of pills, get a shot in my butt cheek, perhaps, and be on my way, completely cured of whatever was wrong with me. Is that really too much to ask?
That's it, friends! But there's one more thing.
If you're reading this, you're obviously interested in art. And if you're an artist yourself, you might even do some gesture drawing now and then to sharpen your skills.
Well, I'm currently building a new iPhone and iPad app for exactly that!
It's called Gesture Gym, and if you'd like to give it a try, head over to the website and sign up for the newsletter. That way, you'll be among the first to know when the beta starts.
